Determining where to eat in a place like Miami can be a difficult task. With various cultures fusing together, the possibilities are endless, especially for visitors who have limited time and limited knowledge. Featuring new fusions and top chefs from around the globe, Miami is home to some of the most interesting cuisines in the country. Rather than spend hours searching the web, why not use a local’s insight to help narrow down your choices.

Pubbelly & Pubbelly Sushi – This local favorite is a fusion of Puerto Rican culture with Asian fare. Chef Jose Mendin has turned the seemingly noodle house into a can’t-miss-spot on Miami Beach. Then in 2011, Chef Jose opened the original Pubbelly Sushi right next door, blending vibrant flavors with high-quality ingredients, to quickly join its neighbor as a local’s favorite.

Joe’s Stone Crab – Serving a Miami delicacy from mid-October to mid-May, Joe’s Stone Crab has long been considered Miami’s most famous crab shack, possibly even the best in the entire state. Attracting visitors from local and afar, Joe’s serves its seasonal crabs with a “secret” sauce, garlic creamed spinach, fried sweet potatoes, coleslaw and hash browns. Even if crab isn’t your calling, Joe’s Stone Crab’s menu offers various delicious entrees, from fried chicken to liver and onions.

Monty’s Sunset – Offering one of the best sunset views available while dining, Monty’s can’t help but be loved by locals. Located next to the marina, Monty’s can be counted on for good seafood and live music. With a kind staff and laid back atmosphere, you may be tempted to stick around and taste the whole menu.

El Palacio de los Jugos – This original food hall hosts several vendors serving various types of hot food for eat in or take out. Taking pride in their Cuban recipes and tropical flavors, Palacio provides quick, tasty, authentic meals for modest prices. Grab some roasted pork, yuca, calabaza squash, chicharrones, or mamey; whatever you decide, you won’t be let down.

Shuckers Bar and Grill – In business for about 25 years, this Miami staple guarantees amazing ocean front views for all diners. While the food and sights are enough to bring you by, the atmosphere and prices keep visitors returning to “grub with a view.” Found in the Best Western Hotel, this restaurant also features a happy hour from 5-7pm.

Winewood – Still a local favorite, but this restaurant is a bit more touristy than the others. Don’t let that fool you though; this establishment is still a local favorite thanks to its outside patio, a large selection of wine, live music, and delicious food. But the coolest part? The Menu at Winewood is tapa style so guests can sample different dishes. Local favorites include the spinach empanadas, cheese tabla, and the mussels.
